These 4 blocks from my first project - a 16 block Tennessee Orange Crazy Quilt!!! Click on any of them to view a larger photo.

I fell in love with crazy quilting in late 2004 when I stumbled across websites about them and started doing research. I love fabrics, colors, textures, designs and patterns. Crazy Quilting includes all the different mediums of art and sewing. Anything goes and you use your creativity to it's fullest. Each CQ block takes on a life of it's own. No two blocks can possibly alike.

My first step was to join a couple of Crazy Quilting email groups in Yahoo. I started participating in swaps and have recieved all sorts of great goodies for my projects. Crazy Quilters are very generous and love to share their good stuff with each other. I haven't been disappointed yet.

I asked the list for help in how to start and two very nice ladies gave me some pointers. So far I purchased 2 of the recommended books: The Magic of Crazy Quilting, 2nd Edition, A Complete Guide to Embellished Crazy Quilting, by J. Marsha Michler and The Crazy Quilt Handbook, Revised 2nd Edition, by Judith Baker Montano.

I couldn't wait to start making blocks so I learned how to make blocks first. Then I took 1 block and practiced stitching until I could get a good feel for a few of the standard CQ stitches such as the blanket stitch and the feather stitch.

I now have a library of books, a closet and an antique cedar chest full of my stash and I can't seem to get enough. There are also some plastic containers here and there with laces, trims, motifs, beads and another small closet full of my buttons!

I participated in my first Round Robin- the Singing the Blues Round Robin and this is the finished block - started in Feb 2006 and finished in April.

I have collected antique jewelry and buttons for years. Please don't forget to check out my Button Gal's Treasures"site for new and antique buttons of all shapes, sizes and materials.
